Growing Export Sales for New York Company

Groceries USA, an export management company from Long Island City, New York, has been working in international sales and marketing for major North American food manufacturers since 1981. For over 30 years, they have successfully introduced value-added grocery products to numerous international markets. They currently export U.S. grocery products in over 30 markets.

Groceries USA has utilized the Food Export Branded Program for eight years and the 50% reimbursement program has helped them see major growth in their international sales. The company has also participated in Buyers Missions, Food Show PLUS!™ activities, webinars, and the Online Product Catalog.

In May of 2015, Noel Barrameda, Sales Executive, traveled to Chicago, Illinois to attend Food Export-Midwest’s Sweets and Snacks Buyers Mission at the Sweets & Snacks Expo. During one-on-one meetings, Mr. Barrameda met with buyers from China, Chile, Taiwan, Guatemala, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. These pre-arranged, one-on-one meetings resulted in $100,000 in international popcorn sales. It is also projected that an additional $100,000 in sales will result in the next twelve months.

In May 2016, Henry Lapados traveled not for the first time to China and participated in Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™ services at the SIAL China show. There Groceries USA established a distributor for a number of product lines including fluff, peanut butter, potato chips, and soon organic made USA nut butters and forecasted a minimum of $250,000 in projected sales for 2016-2017. While the numbers are impressive, the company offered positive overall ratings for the mission.  As stated by Henry Lapidos, “Thank you for the high-quality event; keep up the great job!”

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
