Nut Milk Supplier Gains First-Time Sale to Guatemala

Through their attendance at Food Export’s annual Caribbean and Latin American Buyers Mission, this producer of dairy-free nut milk products gained a first-time sale to Guatemala.

Since 2014, Elmhurst Milked LLC, located in Elma, New York, has participated in Food Export-Northeast’s programs and services to expand the export of their dairy-free nut milk products. Last year, Elmhurst Milked attended four Food Export Buyers Missions. Food Export Buyers Missions are a great, low-cost way for U.S. suppliers to meet with international buyers during private, pre-arranged meetings. Buyers Missions are typically held before major domestic food trade shows.

In June 2022, Elmhurst Milked traveled to Miami, Florida, to attend Food Export’s annual Caribbean and Latin American Buyers Mission. This mission brings numerous buyers to meet with U.S. suppliers ready to export to their markets. Elmhurst Milked had scheduled meetings with 21 buyers during the activity with the opportunity to present to them their dairy substitute products.

Six months post-event, Elmhurst Milked reported gaining $20,000 in combined sales to Guatemala, Trinidad, and Tobago with the buyers they met at the Caribbean and Latin American Buyers Mission. The New York supplier’s sale to Guatemala also marks a first-time sale to the market for them.

Elmhurst Milked LLC produces nut milk products in the dairy-free segment. Elmhurst uses a patented HydroRelease™ technology, resulting in simpler, cleaner, more nutritious, and delicious plant-based beverages. Their cold-milling process produces a “creamier” texture without using gums or emulsifiers while maintaining all of the nutrients and flavor of the raw materials.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
