  • Missouri Supplier Gains Exports Through Focused Trade Mission

    In May of 2017, several US Companies participated in a Focused Trade Mission to Taiwan for Retail and Food Service Products. The two-day mission exposed the companies to pre-arranged one-on-one meetings with qualified Taiwanese Buyers, a market briefing and a tour of Taiwan’s major retail stores.

  • Branded Program Continues to Help Increase Exports from New York Supplier to Canada

    Hauppauge, New York-based business Clever Cookie utilizes Food Export’s Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program to help expand their export sales. In 2016, the company focused their export efforts on Canada because they saw trends there were mirroring those happening in the United States and both countries had similar needs. Clever Cookie was able to report sales of $816,000 last year due to contacts made at trade shows and funding and support received through Food Export.

  • Export Future Looks Promising for Grandma Mae's Country Naturals

    In 2017, Grandma Mae’s Country Naturals, located in several different sectors of New York including Congressional Districts 12 and 22, attended Interzoo, a worldwide trade show in Germany where they developed relationships with Hong Kong as well as an affiliation with another important overseas market which is projected to procure $500,000 in revenues starting in 2018. In addition, between the first half of 2016 and the first half of 2017, their export business has tripled due to the extensive use of MAP between Hong Kong and South Korean distributors.

  • Premium Pet Products Travel to the Netherlands

    On March 21, 2017, Scout & Zoe’s Premium Pet Products, located in Anderson, Indiana in the 5th Congressional District, attended Food Export’s Pet Food Buyers Mission at the 2017 Global Pet Expo where pre-qualified, international buyers meet with Food Export affiliated companies to develop strong relationships and make on-site sales. At this Buyer’s Mission, Scout & Zoe’s had a first time market sale with a buyer from the Netherlands called Champion Petfoods Benelux, selling bakery/biscuit treats, carrot dog treats, and sweet potatoes treats.

  • Gaining Export Sales with the Market Access Program

    Shinestone Trade LLC, from Okemos, Michigan traveled to Shanghai, China in November of last year to exhibit at the Food & Hotel China Show. The Michigan Supplier also chose to utilize Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™ services available at the show. The Food Show PLUS!™ services included introductions to qualified buyers, a market briefing by the local USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service, a local retail tour, and on-site assistance while at the show.

  • Export Market for Michigan Supplier

    North Bay Produce from Traverse City, Michigan utilized Food Export’s Branded Program funding in 2016 to introduce their blueberries and apples to Japan. Taking advantage of the 50% reimbursement through the Market Access Program funded Branded Program helped North Bay make over 77 new contacts in Japan and form 10 new agent relationships.

  • Focused Trade Mission Builds Export Sales for New Jersey Supplier

    In January of 2017 Phillipsburg, New Jersey based LD Distribution Services LLC attended Food Export’s Northeast Buyers Mission in New York, New York. At the mission they met with seventeen different international buyers interested in learning more about the company’s products including their condiments, confections, and baby food products.

  • Indiana Company Breaks Into More Export Sales

    In June 2016, Clabber Girl Corporation, from Terre Haute, Indiana, attended Food Export’s 2016 Caribbean & Central America Buyers Mission for Retail & Food Service Products where they were introduced to qualified buyers from many international markets. During their meetings, they were able to secure $15,500 in actual sales and are projecting to sell another $90,000 over the next twelve months. One of the sales was their first-time export sale to the market, and they reported that their total sales resulting from this activity increase their sales by 20%. They also gained four new foreign agent relationships by participating in the Buyers Mission

  • International Success for Ingredients Company from Kansas

    In October 2016, Cereal Ingredients, located in Leavenworth, Kansas, in the 2nd Congressional District, attended Food Export’s Bakery Ingredients Buyers Missions at the 2016 International Baking Industry Exposition, where they met with pre-qualified international buyers from several different markets, including Brazil, Taiwan, India, China, Vietnam, and South Korea. During their time at the Buyers Mission they reported $150,000 in actual sales. As a result of making 15 new foreign contacts, they are projecting to have an additional $250,000 in sales

    In 2016, Golden Link Inc., a Washingtonville, New York based company, continue to grow and succeed in China as a result of the Market Access Program funded Branded Program. The Branded Program provided funding that allowed Golden Link to concentrate on their exporting plan to China.

  • Lafeber Spreads its Wings with Branded Program

    In 2016, Lafeber located in Cornell, Illinois in the 16th Congressional District, utilized Food Export’s Branded Program to exhibit at several major veterinary shows in Europe. As a result of exhibiting at these shows, they met over 272 foreign buyers; achieved actual sales of over $200,000 within 6 months of the shows; and made first-time export sales to Ireland, Belgium, Croatia, Hungary, and Latvia. Lafeber saw over a 20% increase in their export sales due to these marketing efforts.

  • Maine Lobster Company Looks to Expand its Wholesale and Restaurant Division into the Hong Kong Market

    Cape Seafood, LLC, based in Saco, Maine, is a seafood processing company specializing in Maine lobsters and Jonah crab. It was founded in 2012 by two brothers, Luke and Bryan Holden, in order to supply seafood to their rapidly growing restaurant group called Luke’s Lobster. Luke’s Lobster and Cape Seafood are vertically integrated to the docks allowing for complete transparency to their customers at their 26 shacks domestically and 6 abroad in Japan. Cape Seafood creates the highest quality value-added, ready to eat products from lobster and crab that they sell both retail and wholesale. Cape Seafood processes 5 million pounds of lobsters and 1 million pounds of crabs annually.

  • Developing Relationships in New Market for Dairy Producer

    In December of 2016, DairiConcepts, located in Springfield, Missouri, in the 7th Congressional District, attended Food Export’s Focused Trade Mission to Dubai for Retail and Food Service Products where they received pre-event research into the market, a market briefing by the local USDA and one on one meetings with buyers from GCC-6 (Gulf Cooperation Council consisting of: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates). As a result of this show they are projecting sales to start emerging for the GCC-6 region. During the mission DairiConcepts had created four new foreign contacts as well as they developed a new agent relationship.

  • Ohio Pet Food Company Grows Export Sales

    In 2016, Blackwood Pet Food, LLC located in Lisbon, Ohio, in the 6th Congressional District, participated in Food Export’s Branded Program where they utilized $110,000 of the Market Access Program funding to help them create export sales of $6,000,000. Currently, they have distributors in Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

  • Nature's Logic Utilizes Tradeshows to Expand Globally

    Nature’s Logic, a Lincoln, Nebraska based business in Nebraska’s 1st Congressional District has been in the business of providing the highest quality pet food products made entirely from whole foods since its founding in 2005. Nature’s Logic was the first pet food of its kind to offer entirely natural pet food solutions, with no chemically synthesized supplementation like many other products on the market. Our pets are family, and they deserve only the highest quality nutrition. Although Nature’s Logic is a relatively young business, being established for only 12 years, they have developed a brand with a global impact. Nature’s Logic exports their products to five countries, sources their ingredients from seven U.S. states, and has manufacturing facilities in three Midwestern states.

  • Making Waves Around the World

    In March 2016, Lund Fisheries Inc., located in Cape May, New Jersey attended Food Export’s Seafood Buyers Mission at 2017 Seafood Expo North America where they had one-on-one meetings with buyers from around the world looking for different types of fish, seafood, and seafood related products and services. During the meetings the New Jersey Supplier made a sale of seafood products worth $1.75 million to five different buyers from four different countries. Every sale made represented a 20% increase as well as helping Lund’s Fisheries to make 5 new foreign contacts made. On top of the $1.75 million in sales at the show they projected to do another $4 million in sales in the foreseeable future.

    Founded in 1992 as a functional ingredient manufacturing company, RIBUS, Inc. supplies natural and organic rice ingredients to food, beverage, dietary supplement and pet companies around the world. Based in Saint Louis, Missouri in the 2nd Congressional District, RIBUS produces rice-based ingredients, which provide solutions for conventional, natural and certified organic foods. By utilizing the entire grain (the hull and bran), they are helping to sustain the earth.
