Growing Exports to Canada

by Food Export | Sep 24, 2019
During 2018, GLK Foods, LLC located in Appleton, Wisconsin utilized funds from Food Export – Midwest’s Branded Program to market their products in Canada. They did this by using their allocated funds to attend the SIAL Canada show in Montreal and the Carwacs Show in Toronto last year.

With the help from Branded Program funding, this February GLK Foods reported actual sales to Canada totaling over $130,000, making 146 new foreign buyer contacts, 1 new agent relationship and projecting to gain over $100,000 more in sales over the next twelve months.

GLK Foods has utilized the Market Access Program funded Food Export Branded Program since 2017 and has also participated in Food Show PLUS!™ at SIAL Canada, attended webinars and is part of the Online Product Catalog.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
