Ohio Supplier Successfully Exports to Colombia With Branded Program

Milo’s Whole World Gourmet, LLC currently operates from Athens, Ohio, in the 15th Congressional District. In 2018 Milo’s Whole World Gourmet, LLC, participated in Food Export – Midwest’s Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program. The program was able to help them to successfully export to Colombia for the second consecutive year and make nearly $4,000 in sales. With the help of Food Export – Midwest ‘s Branded Program, Milo’s Whole World Gourmet, LLC, project their total export sales will reach $6,000 within the next twelve months.

The company gets the name “Milo” from a longstanding family tradition of passing on the name from generation to generation. This familial custom motivated Jonathan Milo Leal to name his company after his paternal great grandfather. Vino de Milo debuted with three sauces but now has over 50  varieties of sauces in their catalog. The company has expanded to manage JB's Best Sauces, Milo's Co-Packing, and Brownwood FarmsTM.

The Ohio Manufacturer has utilized the Market Access Program funded Branded Program since 2003. Since then, Milo’s Whole World Gourmet, LLC has established nearly 70 distributorships with international importers. In 2018, with assistance from the Branded Program, Milo’s Whole World Gourmet, LLC was able to promote their JB’s Best and Vino de Milo brands through advertisements in newspapers and magazines in Colombia. Milo’s Whole World Gourmet, LLC also received access to and/or participated in Food Export Webinars, Helpline, Market Builder, and the Online Product Catalog.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
