Iowa Company Utilizes Market Access Program to Expand Exports

Diamond V of Cedar Rapids, Iowa has utilized Food Export’s programs and services for many years to help expand their international business. In particular, they’ve participated in Food Export – Midwest’s Value-Added Feed Ingredient Buyers Mission since 2009 as well as the Branded Program since 1998. Participating in these programs has helped Diamond V achieve strong international business growth.

In 2012, Diamond V participated in Food Export – Midwest’s Value-Added Feed Ingredient Buyers Mission at the World Dairy Expo in Madison, Wisconsin.  While there, they met with a buyer from Vietnam and initiated sales discussions.  Over the next few years, they began business with the buyer and saw their sales grow in Vietnam by $650,000 in 2014, $350,000 more in 2015, and $200,000 more in 2016.  According to Michael Goble, Executive Vice President & COO, “A significant portion of our sales increase to Vietnam was due to the Vietnamese buyer we met through Food Export – Midwest’s activity.”

Diamond V also utilizes Food Export – Midwest’s Branded Program to help grow their brand and market presence abroad.  In 2015, they used the program in Europe with a plan focusing on seminar sponsorship and educational opportunities in the international dairy nutrition market. In the Netherlands, Diamond V saw a growth of $600,000 in sales in 2015.  In Poland, they saw a growth of $300,000 in sales in 2015.
