Continued Success Within Chinese Market

by Food Export | Nov 23, 2016
The Orange Cheese Company began working with Food Export about two years ago, in the fall of 2014. Since participating in the Food Export programs, they have made their first export sale and have had continued success with their exports into the various regions of China. One of these successes came in July of 2015 when Ms. Liu represented the company at Food Export’s Focused Trade Mission to Northern China for Retail and Food Service Products.

During the Trade Mission the Connecticut supplier had one-on-one meetings with qualified buyers, attended a market briefing from the local USDA Foreign Agricultural Service Office, and went on a retail tour. They initially had made eight new foreign contacts and eight new agent relationships within the Chinese market due to their involvement in the event. Then in February of this year, they made a sale of their cheese products worth $20,000 to the market. At the same time they reported that they expected another $50,000 in sales to come into fruition before the end of the year.

According Ms. Liu, she had “enjoyed meeting with new buyers/distributors” during this year’s event even though they “only participated in the Beijing portion of [the event]”. The company has been able to add four new staff members to their company due to their success of the past two years and this year’s sales have accounted for a twenty percent increase in sales to the market.
