Blackwood Pet Food Expands in Multiple Markets With Food Export Branded Program Funds

by Food Export | Oct 31, 2016
Blackwood Pet Food is a family-operated company in Ohio that is committed to producing healthy, quality food for cats and dogs. For over 20 years, Blackwood has maintained this commitment by slow-cooking every batch of pet food they produce. All of Blackwood’s pet food recipes are cooked in small batches using all-natural ingredients to ensure the quality of every batch.

Blackwood Pet Food has been using Food Export resources, like the Food Export Helpline for more than 10 years, and began using the Branded Program in 2012.

In 2015, Blackwood used funding from the Food Export Branded Program to increase their market share in Israel, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea and Taiwan. In four of the five markets, Blackwood Pet Food experienced a 20% sales increase and over $3 million in sales with the help of the Branded Program.

“It’s organizations like Food Export USA that give growing companies like ours the needed assistance to ensure that our growth and sustainability continues,” said Matthew Golladay. “Our business has greatly benefited from these resources and allowed us the opportunity to expand into these foreign markets.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
