Lobster Supplier Nets Export Sales With Branded Program

by Food Export | May 10, 2019
Stonington, Maine, long-known for its rich and historic tradition of lobstering, is the home of Greenhead Lobster, a family owned business since 1997 that focuses on one product: wild-caught fresh Stonington, Maine lobster. Owner Hugh Reynolds oversees every aspect of his operation from his Stonington, Maine headquarters located right at dockside.

Hugh is passionate about his work, his longstanding working relationships with the dedicated fleet of lobstermen and women who supply him with the highest quality lobster, and, above all, knowing that he is providing you with the best premium quality Stonington, Maine lobster —live lobster or fresh lobster tails— along with consistently reliable Greenhead Lobster customer service.

Utilizing Food Export’s Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program has helped the Maine Supplier over the past seven years gain new export sales abroad. Using their allocated funding to exhibit at international seafood trade shows helps Greenhead Lobster gain market exposure and new foreign buyer contacts.

In 2018, with help from the MAP funds, the Maine Supplier gained 40 new foreign buyer contacts in China, South Korea, Vietnam, Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates. This and the success of earning over $4,000,000 in export sales to these countries is a great example of  utilizing Food Export’s Branded Program funding to the fullest.

Greenhead Lobster has participated in Food Export’s Branded Program since 2012 along with Food Show PLUS!™ show services, Buyers Missions and the Online Product Catalog.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
