After 13 years of the Dominican Republic-Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR) implementation, almost all U.S. products have no import tariffs and nearly all remaining tariffs will be eliminated in a few years. The U.S. is the largest agricultural product supplier to Guatemala, accounting for 30% of the market. Guatemala is the largest market for U.S. exports of consumer food products in Central America. 2018 exports of these products totaled US$449.6 million, an increase of 8% from the prior year and another new record high. Guatemala is the 2nd largest U.S. export market for processed foods in Central America after Panama. Guatemala imported US$352.5 million in U.S. processed foods in 2018, growth of 4%.
