Since 2014, Orange Cheese Company has participated in Food Export–Northeast programs and services to expand brand awareness and grow export sales. For the past decade, the Connecticut-based supplier has used the Market Access Program (MAP)-funded Branded Program to strengthen its presence in international markets.

Each year, the company has shared its success stories with Food Export, demonstrating the positive impact of these programs. Below are two highlights from the past two years.

In October 2023, Orange Cheese joined Food Export’s Focused Trade Mission to Korea for Ingredients, Food Service, and Retail. Through pre-scheduled, one-on-one meetings, the supplier introduced its products to qualified buyers, gaining valuable new trade leads, distribution opportunities, and increased international brand recognition. Following the Mission, Orange Cheese reported $100,000 in sales and $200,000 in projected sales, supported by two newly established distributorships.

“The treatment from the Food Export team in Korea and the events that were held made us feel very comfortable in this setting. We are working with several customers on sample requests and pricing quotations, and we look forward to continuing to grow these connections throughout the year,” said Nicholas Tavernise, Supply Chain and Global Market Specialist.

In February 2025, Orange Cheese reported $80,000 in sales to China, with $100,000 in projected sales over the next twelve months. The company also gained 31 new foreign buyer contacts in China and Taiwan through in-store product demonstrations supported by Branded Program funding.

“It was a wonderful experience working with Food Export again and participating in this program. We received prompt responses and valuable suggestions while preparing the application materials and submitting our applications. We sincerely appreciate your assistance and guidance throughout this process,” shared Cynthia Liu, Managing Director of Orange Cheese Company.

Founded in 2014, Orange Cheese Company is a dedicated exporter and brand partner for several award-winning American dairy brands. Headquartered in Woodbridge, Connecticut, the company also operates two subsidiary offices in mainland China and Hong Kong. It supplies a broad range of American natural, processed, and specialty cheeses to the retail, foodservice, and dairy manufacturing sectors.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
