Ohio Pet Food Supplier Gains Exports to Three International Markets

Best Breed, Inc. is the producer of veterinarian-developed, holistic, pet nutrition. Made in Ohio, Best Breed’s dog and cat foods are crafted using a unique slow-cooking process, helping ensure the nutritional integrity of each kibble.
For twelve years Best Breed has participated in Food Export-Midwest’s Branded Program to increase international brand awareness and gain export sales. The Findlay, Ohio supplier has diversified its Branded Program funding utilization over the years and has adapted with its activities based on market consumption and trends.
Since 2011, the Ohio-based pet food supplier has participated in Food Export-Midwest’s Branded Program to expand their export sales. Last year, Best Breed used the program to gain brand awareness in China, Korea, and Singapore. The supplier used their allocated funding to create multi-country digital campaigns, complete in-market consumer events, fund in-store product demonstrations, ship product samples, and make label/packaging modifications. These efforts and promotions helped Best Breed gain six figures in sales to Korea, China, and Singapore, gain 8 new foreign buyer contacts, and establish8 new distributorships.
Ohio supplier, Best Breed, Inc., started using Food Export programs in 2011 participating in the Branded Program, Trade Leads, Online Product Catalog, and the U.S. FoodLink.
Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
