Godshall’s Quality Meats, founded in 1945 as a home-based business, is now an Employee-Owned Company with multiple plants and its own Innovation Center. The company is known for its premium wood-smoked meats, including turkey and beef bacon and a variety of sausages.

Godshall’s began participating in Food Export programs ten years ago to expand into new international markets, connect with distributors, and build relationships with foreign buyers.

One highlight of the company’s success was its participation in Food Export’s 2022 Branded Program. With allocated funding, Godshall’s exhibited at four trade shows, using the support to offset costs for booth space, refrigeration equipment, printed materials, product shipping, and more. At these events, the company promoted products such as turkey bacon, beef bacon, Canadian turkey bacon, Angus steak bacon, and its Deen Halal line, which includes turkey sausage, turkey breakfast slices, ham, pepperoni, and salami. By the end of the program year, Godshall’s reported $350,000 in sales, projected an additional $1.8 million over the following twelve months, gained 15 new foreign buyer contacts, and established three new agent relationships.

In March 2024, Godshall’s participated in Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™ at the Expo ANTAD & Alimentaria trade show in Guadalajara, Mexico. With the support of in-market services, the company secured two new distributor relationships and completed its first-ever sale to the Mexican market. Godshall’s projects an additional $1.5 million in sales over the next twelve months as a result.

“Having the support of Food Export’s In-Market Representatives in Mexico was very helpful for our successful participation in this show – from pre-show planning to our onsite experience,” said JR Rivera, Vice President of Sales.

Since 2015, Godshall’s has actively engaged in Food Export programs, including Buyers Missions, Trade Missions, and numerous export education activities such as webinars.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
