13th Ave Fish Market Inc., based in Brooklyn, New York, is a producer of premium fish and seafood products specializing in kosher fish and sushi. Founded in 1954, the company has grown into an internationally recognized supplier, employing more than 100 individuals and marketing its products under the Freund’s Fish and Sushi Maven brands.
Since beginning participation in Food Export–Northeast programs in 2023, 13th Ave Fish Market has leveraged the Market Access Program (MAP)–funded Branded Program to expand its international presence and strengthen export opportunities for its U.S.-produced seafood products.
The company’s initial participation focused on building brand awareness in Israel through targeted print advertising campaigns. These early efforts resulted in year-over-year export growth and the development of new relationships with international buyers and distributors, laying the foundation for continued expansion.
Building on this momentum, 13th Ave Fish Market expanded its promotional efforts in 2024 to include both Israel and the United Kingdom. Through MAP-funded activities, the company implemented print media campaigns to promote its Sushi Maven brand to international buyers and retail partners. These efforts generated $132,013 in export sales to Israel and $153,550 to the United Kingdom, while also producing three new foreign buyer contacts and strong projected sales growth exceeding $374,000 over the following twelve months.
In 2025, the company continued to strengthen its presence in the United Kingdom through additional Branded Program participation. Targeted promotional activities further increased brand visibility and buyer engagement, resulting in $147,150 in export sales to the market, with projected sales of $165,500. The company also gained eight new foreign buyer contacts and established two new distributorships, expanding its international distribution network.
Across multiple years of participation, 13th Ave Fish Market has demonstrated how sustained engagement with Food Export programs can drive measurable export growth. Through consistent use of MAP-funded activities, the company has successfully entered and expanded in key international markets, strengthened relationships with qualified buyers, and increased global awareness of its products.
Looking ahead, 13th Ave Fish Market plans to continue leveraging Food Export programs to build on its success in existing markets while exploring new opportunities for expansion. With a strong foundation in place, the company is well positioned to achieve continued export growth and further enhance the competitiveness of U.S. seafood products in the global marketplace.
