Burnt Finger BBQ, led by Pitmasters Jason and Megan Day, has created world-championship sauces and rubs that embody the authentic flavors of Kansas City barbecue. You’ve seen them on TV, in magazines, and collecting trophies on the world’s largest food competition stages. Their family of high-quality products, including the newly crowned “Best Sauce on the Planet”, Spicy KC Barbecue Sauce, is exported to over 20 international regions.

Last year, the Lees Summit, Missouri supplier participated in its first Food Export-Midwest event. The company traveled to Kansas City, Kansas for Food Export’s Condiments, Sauces, and Rubs Buyers Mission at the American Royal BBQ. At the Buyers Mission the supplier met with buyers representing companies in Brazil, Canada, Curaçao, France, Guatemala, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom. These meetings created 7 new foreign buyer contacts for Burnt Finger BBQ and new distributorships. Megan Day, Co-Owner of Burnt Finger BBQ shared, “Wonderful event with quality buyers. We are very proud of our industry and are hopeful of having great success with these new contacts. Being able to personally introduce our flavors and see the excitement in the buyer’s eyes gave us the confidence to push for more growth and increase our involvement with Food Export-Midwest’s help.”

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
