Founded in 2017, woman-owned Brooklyn Bites NY, LLC is a specialty snack company dedicated to creating “better-for-you” products that are delicious, allergen-friendly, and on trend. The New York–based manufacturer offers both branded and private label solutions, making its snacks accessible to a wide range of consumers seeking flavorful options that meet modern dietary needs.
Brooklyn Bites began participating in Food Export–Northeast programs five years ago with the goal of expanding brand awareness and growing export sales for its snack and cookie product lines. Over the past three years, the company has leveraged the Market Access Program (MAP)-funded Branded Program to promote its products internationally through cost-reimbursement support for eligible marketing activities. In 2023, the supplier focused its efforts on Canada and the United Kingdom, using Branded Program funding to complete digital marketing campaigns, ship samples to promising buyers, and make necessary packaging modifications for both markets.
These efforts delivered meaningful results. Brooklyn Bites reported $100,000 in export sales to Canada and $50,000 in sales to the United Kingdom, marking its first-ever sale into the UK market. The company also gained 14 new foreign buyer contacts, established 12 new distributorships, and projects an impressive $2.1 million in additional sales over the next twelve months as these new relationships mature.
In addition to the Branded Program, Brooklyn Bites has strengthened its export knowledge and visibility through participation in Food Export Buyers Missions and the Online Product Catalog. Its consistent engagement reflects a strong commitment to international growth and demonstrates how Food Export–Northeast services can help emerging, innovative brands successfully enter—and scale within—global markets.
Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
