While growing rapidly for the past ten years, in 2021 the Birmingham, Michigan company started participating in Food Export-Midwest’s Branded Program to increase their sales in Canada.

Last year, the Birmingham, Michigan supplier participated in Food Export’s Branded Program for the second year to increase their market share in Canada. Cooper Street Cookies used their allocated funding from the program to make label/package modifications specifically required to be compliant with the Canadian market regulations. With these efforts (and an incredibly tasty product), this January the Michigan company was able to report earning $5,000 in sales to Canada, 10 new foreign buyer contacts, 1 new established distributorship, and projected sales of $30,000 in sales to be completed over the next twelve months.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
