  • Branded Program Helps Increase Exports to Mexico

    Cooperative Elevator Co. is an agricultural cooperative situated in Michigan's "thumb" - a rich agricultural region offering fertile soils, tiled fields, adequate rainfall, and temperatures moderated by Lake Huron and Saginaw Bay. Since 2005, Cooperative Elevator Co. has been using the Branded Program to modify their packaging for the Mexico market. Each year, the packaging must be modified to prevent others from copying the packaging and producing counterfeits.

  • Food Ingredients Buyers Mission Helps Missouri Supplier Expand Export Sales

    During June of 2014, companies attended the Food Ingredients Buyers Mission at the IFT Show in New Orleans, LA. The show as a whole was extremely successful with total sales from the event being $2.95 million and the projected sales were $3.6 million. In addition, thirteen companies saw over a 20% increase in sales.

  • Wisconsin's Best Cranberries Finds Export Success In Mexico

    In mid-March, Wisconsin’s Best Cranberries located in Wausau, Wisconsin, in the 7th Congressional District, attended Expo ANTAD and utilized Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™ services where they met 50 different foreign buyers from Mexico. They had sales that amounted to $100,000 and are projected to sell over $500,000 more over the next twelve months.

  • Gelato Fiasco Continues to See Value in Food Export Activities

    Founded in 2007, the Gelato Fiasco produces specialty gelato and sorbetto using only milk from Maine and other local ingredients. The company now produces their product at three facilities, has over twenty-five employees, and their pints are available at more than 500 grocery and specialty stores in the country.

    In May 2015, Life Plus Style Gourmet, LLC, a New York company that is promoting Coney Island Popcorn, secured an order with a major retailer in Canada, shipping 420 cases in ten pallets of four new different types of popcorn flavors, the order was worth $10,000.

  • Iowa Supplier Increases Exports to Mexico

  • JM Grain Brings USA Lentils and Peas to Colombia

    Prior to 2012, JM Grain, a North Dakota-based supplier of green peas and lentils, did not do much business in Colombia. The company had only shipped product in small quantity to the South American country. However, business picked up considerably in the fall of 2012 following JM Grain’s participation in Food Export – Midwest’s Market Builder program.

    In December 2014, FoodSource, Inc., located in Willowbrook, Illinois, in the 11th Congressional District, attended the 2014 Focused Trade Mission to Dubai. They had successful interactions with nine foreign buyers, and forged two distributorships. FoodSource, Inc. also reported expected sales of $2M, which represents a 20% increase in sales, and reported projected sales of $2.2M.

  • Popping Export Sales for New Jersey Supplier

    Growing up in the Midwest, popping corn was bought from local farmers by Christine Myers, President of Madison Park Foods. After moving East, that same quality popcorn could not be found anywhere. A few years ago, Myers finally located the family farmer who grew this unique heirloom popcorn and decided it was too healthy and delicious to keep to herself. Her husband used his background in the spice trade to formulate seasonings to make this all American Snack extraordinary, and Madison Park Foods was born.
