Massachusetts Sauce Company Piques Japan's Interest

Taunk Inc. known as Meal Mantra is a growing player in the simmer sauce market. In 2019, the company participated in Food Export – Northeast’s Specialty Food Buyers Mission at the 2019 Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco.

At this event, the company met with a buyer from Japan who was interested in their gourmet simmer sauces.  In the months following the event, the buyer placed an initial order for 80 cases with potential for future orders. Tarun Bhalla, Director of Tanuk Inc. mentioned that the success “would not be possible without [Food Export’s] support.”

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
