Ohio Based Supplier Grows Exports to Canada

by Food Export | Apr 26, 2019
In 2018, YZ Enterprises, from Maumee, Ohio, utilized Food Export - Midwest’s Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program to grow brand awareness in Canada. The Ohio based company used their allocated Branded Program funds to make label/package modifications that would meet Canadian food regulation standards for their thin sliced and twice baked almond biscuits (cookies) and crisps made special for the Canadian market.

YZ Enterprises also utilized their Branded Program funds to defer costs to exhibit at the Canadian Health Food Association (CHFA) West and East Tradeshows with the hopes of increasing their brand recognition across Canada.

The marketing strategy and fund utilization helped the Ohio Supplier gain over $35,000 in export sales to Canada last year and gain 2 new foreign contacts. They also project to complete $60,000 in sales over the next twelve months.

YZ Enterprises is a producer of Almondina biscuits (cookies) and crisps, working in the retail, and private label market segments. To learn more about YZ Enterprises products visit their website at:  https://almondina.com/

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
