New Export Markets for Iowa Supplier

by Food Export | Mar 20, 2018
Michael’s Bakery Products of Clear Lake, Iowa utilized Food Export’s Branded Program in 2017 to help them expand their international business into Japan and China. Participating in the Market Access Program (MAP) funded program helped offset the costs of travel and booth fees for events in these markets which in turn helped the supplier focus on creating key contacts and export opportunities.

This February, Don Smith, Senior VP Sales and Marketing for Michael’s Bakery Products was able to share with Food Export that the company earned over $150,000 in export sales to Japan, while also making 20 new foreign buyer contacts and 2 new agent relationships because of the trade shows they attended last year with the assistance of Branded Program funds.

Founded in 1987, Michael's Bakery Products produces cookies for the retail and food service industries.  They offer a wide variety of premium flavors of frozen, ready-to-baMICHAELSke cookie dough, made from all natural, kosher ingredients.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
