Continued Export Success to the Middle East

by Food Export | Mar 20, 2018
Original Juan Specialty Foods located in Kansas City, Kansas, in the 3rd Congressional District, utilized Food Export’s Branded Program to increase their sales in the Middle East, especially in the United Arab Emirates.

With the assistance of the Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program, Original Juan secured sales of $56,432 in 2017 to the United Arab Emirates. This is the second year Original Juan has exported their products to the United Arab Emirates by primarily focusing on advertising and demos with the funds they were allocated.

Founded in 1997, Original Juan Specialty Foods is housed in a 60,000-square foot facility. The facility manufactures 150 products under 13 different brands including Pain is Good, Da’Bomb, Fiesta Juan’s and American Stockyard. Original Juan’s corporate office houses a modern test kitchen where the company’s creative process begins. The test kitchen team is directed by two talented individuals, a product development manager and their full-time chef. Moreover, Original Juan continues to give back to their community. They donate time and product to multiple civic organizations and Original Juan has a long track record of mentoring budding food industry entrepreneurs.

United Arab Emirates hasn’t been the only country they have been able to sell their products to thanks to Food Export’s Branded Program. South Korea, Thailand, the Netherlands, and Germany are just a few others where they have been able to make a spicy impact. The Branded Program allows them to modify their labels to conform to the countries language and attend trade shows. These trade shows have allowed Original Juan’s to create more relationships with suppliers and buyers across the world.

The Kansas Supplier has participated in Food Export programs since 1999 being part of the Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program, the Online Product Catalog, the Food Export Helpline™, Specialty Food Service Buyers Missions and webinars. Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
