Barking Up Export Sales to Canada

by Food Export | Mar 20, 2018
In 2017, Polkadog Bakery from Boston, Massachusetts utilized Food Export’s Branded Program to increase their export marketing strategies. Using the 50% cost reimbursement program helped the pet treat supplier expand their marketing activities in Canada while deferring costs of shipping and attending trade shows in the market.

This February the Boston Supplier was able to report over $60,000 in new export sales to Canada due to participation in the Branded Program. Polkadog Bakery also acquired 30 new foreign buyer contacts and projects to complete $100,000 in sales over the next twelve months.

Polkadog Bakery produces a wide variety of dehydrated and jerky treats, soft and chewy treats, and classic biscuits for dogs and cats. This is the second year the company has participated in Food Export’s Branded Program and has also attended Food Export Buyers Missions, used the Food Export Helpline™ and has listings in the Online Product Catalog.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
