Gaining Export Sales with the Market Access Program

by Food Export | Jul 06, 2017
Shinestone Trade LLC, from Okemos, Michigan traveled to Shanghai, China in November of last year to exhibit at the Food & Hotel China Show. The Michigan Supplier also chose to utilize Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™ services available at the show. The Food Show PLUS!™ services included introductions to qualified buyers, a market briefing by the local USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service, a local retail tour, and on-site assistance while at the show.

These services proved to be helpful as post-show Shinestone was able to report $2,000 in actual new sales and project to do $50,000 more in sales over the next twelve months.

Shinestone Trade LLC has utilized Food Export programs since 2014 participating in the Online Product Catalog, webinars, Buyers Missions and Food Show PLUS!™ services.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
