Ohio Pet Food Company Grows Export Sales

by Food Export | Jun 23, 2017
In 2016, Blackwood Pet Food, LLC located in Lisbon, Ohio, in the 6th Congressional District, participated in Food Export’s Branded Program where they utilized $110,000 of the Market Access Program funding to help them create export sales of $6,000,000. Currently, they have distributors in Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Israel, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

The pet nutrition company has utilized the Branded Program for five years, increasing sales each year. “We find a tremendous value in this program and we enjoy being a part of it.  Our distributor partners can drive sales of our products with the Branded Program’s support, and it’s an enormous help in those markets.  The Food Export team is very helpful and we enjoy our working relationship,” said Matt Golladay, President of Blackwood. Blackwood Pet Food, LLC is family-operated pet food producer where they believe healthy, happy pets make families happy. Every one of their bags tells their story. Each batch of pet food is made with care and quality. The heart of Blackwood’s success is due to their commitment of slow cooking. They’ve perfected this technique over the past twenty years and have found that slow cooked foods can increase pet nutrient uptake, creating premium pet food.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
