Brooklyn Supplier Utilizes Branded Funds to Expand Exports

by Food Export | May 10, 2017
An idea in 2013 helped create Brooklyn, New York-based ProFormance Foods, Inc.’s latest Protes Protein Chips. This revolutionary protein-based chip is the product of two college friends who realized a need for protein-dense snacks that were different from the oversaturated market of protein bars and shakes.

Utilizing Food Export’s Branded Program in 2015 helped the Brooklyn Supplier see exciting new export sales to Norway. Focusing on natural products food shows to expose their product and establish their brand, ProFormance Foods utilized their allocated Market Access Program Branded funds to exhibit at a major trade show and with that exposure met a buyer who immersed their Chili Lime Tangy Southern BBQ protein chip into the Norwegian retail market. With this exposure the company was able to report in February of 2016, $60,000 in actual sales and project $100,000 more to occur over the next twelve months.

ProFormance Foods, Inc. has utilized Food Export’s Branded Program since 2014 and has also attended two Buyers Missions, participated in the Food Export Online Product Catalog, the Food Export Helpline™ and Webinars. Their zesty protein chips are high in protein, low carb, low fat, vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
