Expanding Export Markets with Food Export Buyers Mission

American Food Service, Inc. (AFS) from Boonville, New York focuses on exporting American goods into foreign markets. Currently, the company has been able to export all across Europe, as well as other markets such as Asia, Indonesia, and South America. The company has a wide array of products that they update constantly in order to meet the demand of international markets.

Since 2013 American Food Service, Inc. has utilized Food Export’s programs and services. They have participated in Buyers Missions, Focused Trade Missions, Food Show PLUS!™ events, and the Online Product Catalog. Food Export finds this impressive as this seasoned exporter still believes that Food Export can be a value tool to expanding their exports and international marketing strategy.

In January of 2016 American Food Service, Inc. attended Food Export’s Northeast Buyers Mission where they met with buyers from Brazil, China, Denmark, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Spain, Taiwan and Vietnam. At the mission AFS introduced a range of products to the buyers which included sauces, spreads, dairy products, pasta and snacks which were very well received.

Post event American Food Service reported that they made a new export sale to Spain for $20,000 and they project to export another $40,000 over the next twelve months.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products; as these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
