Ohio Supplier Expands Exports to Canada

by Food Export | Oct 28, 2016
Launched in 2005 by the husband and wife pair of Andrea and Jimmy Zeilinger, Brand Castle is “very much a family affair”. Since selling their first Crafty Cooking Kit in February 2005, Brand Castle has become the leader in interactive baking kits for children and adults. What started with six products ranging from paint-your-own-brownie to a rainbow cookies kit has grown into a portfolio of over 300 items sold under three different brand names and numerous licenses.

Last year Brand Castle took advantage of the 50% reimbursement through Food Export’s Branded Program to establish their products in Canada’s retail markets. With their approved funding the company planned to make label modifications to their products and be compliant with Canadian regulations.

Because of Brand Castle’s hard-work and the help of the Branded Program funding, the company was able to report new export sales over $400,000 to Canada for 2015. They also have projected an additional $400,000 in sales over the next twelve months.

Brand Castle is located in Bedford Heights, Ohio in the 11th Congressional District and has participated in Food Export events since 2009 when they attended their first Buyers Mission. They also have participated in the Online Product Catalog, webinars and in the Branded Program.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
