Maine Seafood Supplier Expands Exports to China

by Food Export | Aug 15, 2016
In September of 2015, Maine Coast, a lobster supplier from the 1st Congressional District in Maine, traveled to Hong Kong to take part in Seafood Expo Asia. This show, formerly known as the Asian Seafood Exposition, is a three day event where seafood buyers connect with exhibitors offering a variety of live, fresh, frozen and value-added seafood products and seafood-related services and equipment.

While attending the show the Maine supplier utilized Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™ services. These services included one-on-one meetings with qualified Chinese and Southeast Asia buyers, an in-market briefing, a guided wholesale market tour, on-site show assistance by Food Export’s In-Market Representative, pre-event custom research regarding pricing, import regulations and competitor analysis on one of their products, and qualification of leads post show.

Utilizing the provided services helped Maine Coast boost actual show sales over one million dollars and develop four new agent relationships.

Maine Coast is a worldwide distributor of the finest North Atlantic live lobster, Homarus Americanus, to both domestic and overseas locations. They offer all sizes of lobsters and carry a wide range of packaging options to best accommodate their customer’s requirements.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products; as these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
