North Dakota Company's Exports Grow in Mexico

by Food Export | Jul 21, 2016
Mexico continued to be a budding export market in 2015 for Red River Commodities, Inc. of Fargo, North Dakota. Tara Jensen, International/Domestic Sales Manager, was one of eleven participants in the Focused Trade Mission to Mexico for Private Label and Retail Products in August of last year.

The Food Export Mission was successful for the North Dakota supplier as they were able to report $50,000 in actual sales for value added healthy food products after the mission and project to do another $150,000 for this category over the next twelve months. This sale would represent a 20% increase in sales for the category to the market for Red River Commodities.

Ingredient processing of agricultural crops including sunflowers, soybeans, millet, flax and sorghum is the forte of Red River Commodities, Inc. Through its subsidiary, Sungold Foods, the company specializes in the roasting and packaging of sunflower inshell and kernels, soybeans, chickpeas, pumpkin and other specialty items for the rapidly growing healthy snack food industry.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products; as these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
