Pennsylvania Supplier Builds Export Success

by Food Export | Jul 07, 2016
In March of 2014, Giorgio Foods Inc., of Temple, Pennsylvania, the 6th Congressional District, attended the Restaurant Show Canada where they took advantage of Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™ services. The Food Show PLUS!™ services helped Giorgio Foods be a confident international exhibitor by maximizing their tradeshow success with pre-show product research, material translation, an in-market briefing, lead generation and at-show pre-arranged buyer meetings.

One Canadian buyer was very interested in Giorgio’s pizzas and that resulted in sales for the U.S. supplier of $12,500. Looking ahead, Giorgio’s sees this as a great connection to increase their export sales to Canada and projects $125,000 more in sales over the next twelve months.

Mr. John Eccleston, International Executive Chef/Business Development for Giorgio Foods, Inc. has participated in Food Export activities since 2011. Why does he continue to participate in Food Export activities? Per Eccleston, “Food Export Focused Trade Missions are the most economical way to meet qualified buyers.”

Established in 1928, Giorgio Foods continues to grow and expand with stressed value on “continuous improvement” in everything they undertake – from the growing and processing to service and delivery. Giorgio Foods has grown into a fully integrated grower, processor and distributor of the finest fresh, frozen, canned, jarred and value-added products for a wide variety of markets. They partner with full-service, casual theme, QSR and family restaurants, as well as supermarkets, club stores, delis and convenience stores to make sure they have profitable, palate-pleasing selections to grow their business.
Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products; as these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
