Iowa Supplier Increases Exports to Mexico

by Food Export | Jul 07, 2016
In October 2014, Diamond V, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, attended the Value-Added Feed Ingredients Buyers Mission at the World Dairy Expo where they had one-on-one meetings with a variety of international buyers. One standout contact was a Mexican buyer who was very interested in Diamond V’s all-natural products.

This interest resulted in new export business for Diamond V, including $12,000 in sales to the Mexican Buyer and projected $25,000 more in sales over the next twelve months.

Diamond V has participated in a variety of other Food Export activities since 2002, including Buyers Missions, webinars and the Branded Program.

Established in 1943, Diamond V began manufacturing a unique microbial fermentation product for American livestock producers. Diamond V’s “original” product quickly set the standard for the U.S. feed industry. In the decades that followed, Diamond V further developed and refined the original proprietary fermentation process, invested in scientific talent and research, and created new proprietary microbial fermentation technology. Diamond V grew to become the world’s largest and most respected manufacturer of microbial fermentation-based products for food animals and companion animals.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products; as these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
