Illinois Chip Supplier Expands Export Markets

In July of 2014, NatureStar Foods, Inc. dba Plocky's Fine Snacks, from Hinsdale, Illinois, in the 5th Congressional District, attended Food Export’s Midwest Buyers Mission where they met with buyers from Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates and Vietnam.

In August, Diane Cipolla, Sales Director of Plocky’s, and the Korean Buyer she met at the Midwest Buyers Mission were able to strike a deal and Plocky’s shipped their first container order of Tortilla chips to Korea. This $7,500 sale was with a buyer Cipolla met at the Midwest Buyers Mission in July.

Plocky’s Fine Snacks are veterans when it comes to exporting their products. The company currently exports to Canada, China, Dubai, South Korea, Singapore and the Caribbean Islands. They’ve continued to make new contacts in these markets – expanding their international sales and experience. Plocky’s has participated in Food Export Buyers Missions, Webinars, the Food Export Helpline™, Online Product Catalog, Food Show PLUS!™ and the Branded Program since 2010.

Plocky’s was established in 1988 and incorporated under the name NatureStar Foods. Over the years they have developed a portfolio of natural products including an extensive line of specialty tortilla chips, salsas, organic dip strips and hummus chips made from real hummus.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products; as these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
