SB Global Foods Realizes Six-Figure Export Sales to Singapore

by Food Export | Jul 06, 2016
In 2014, SB Global Foods, located in Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania realized six figures in export sales of snack food products to a customer in Singapore as a direct result of the support from the Food Export Branded Program and funds from the Market Access Program.

To accommodate these orders, SB Global Foods has increased product sourcing of raw materials from companies in Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Maryland, and has increased packaging sourcing from suppliers in Pennsylvania and Georgia.

According to Karl Brown, the President and CEO of SB Global Foods, “Food Export's Branded Program allowed representatives from the company to establish a new importer relationship which resulted in the placement of their products with four of the major retailers in Singapore.” SB Global and their new importer in Singapore were able to use the funds from the Branded Program to provide in-store tastings, in-store displays, and PoS materials.

SB Global Food distributes confection, snack, and grocery products throughout the United States and to sixty (60) countries worldwide. Recently, Pretzel Pete, the sister company of SB Global Foods, became one of the first pretzel companies in the United States to be recognized as certified Non-GMO / GMO Free, which has helped them realize additional success in European markets.

In 2014, Pennsylvania ranked fourth in the nation for companies exporting Snack Foods NESOI to Singapore with sales of $558,224. For importers of snack food from Pennsylvania, Singapore was ranked number twenty-one. Within the United States, Pennsylvania is the third largest exporter worldwide for Snack Foods NESOI, with worldwide sales of over $99,285,300. Singapore is a growing region for U.S. food and agricultural exports since they import nearly 90% of their food because it is an island state. It boasts one of the world’s most open economies and has the second-highest per capita GDP in Asia. Singaporeans have a preference for higher quality food and there is a high demand for U.S. food products, making it an attractive target market for companies like SB Global Foods.
