Better Batter Sees Growth With International Sales

by Food Export | Jul 06, 2016
Better Batter Gluten Free Flour, LLC, located in Altoona, Pennsylvania, attended the 2014 Natural Products Expo East Buyers Mission, the 2015 Summer Fancy Food Buyers Mission, and participated in the Food Export Branded Program in 2014 and 2015.

Food Export's Buyers Mission at the Natural Products Expo East Show has allowed Better Batter to increase their international sales approximately 30 percent, from $10,000 to $13,500. Their export business to Canada increased and they were able to develop a market in Poland, Germany, and Ireland. In addition, they anticipate an increase in export sales from $10,000 to $30,000 as a direct result of their participation in the 2015 Summer Fancy Food Buyers Mission.

According to Naomi Poe, Founder and CEO, “Food Export has been instrumental in helping me learn how to carefully navigate that costs and regulations associated with exporting and connecting me with qualified buyers. Even where the introduction does not lead to sales, I come out of the meetings feeling like I have learned enough to move forward.” These programs have allowed Better Batter to develop five new relationships with international buyers and have provided an opportunity to hire a new employee. Though the same amount of material is being sourced, the export growth has offset some of the compression in domestic sales.

Better Batter Gluten Free Flour, is a producer of gluten free and allergen free flours, corn-free powdered sugar, brownie, cake, and biscuit mixes in the prepared foods market segment.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products; as these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
