  • Branded Program Creates New Opportunities for King Preferred Inc.

    In August 2017, King Preferred Inc., located in Elkhart, Indiana, contracted into the Branded Program for the first time since 2003. King Preferred has been restricted in the past from utilizing the Branded Program due to the "three-year rule”, which disqualified companies from receiving Branded Program support at eligible U.S. tradeshows in which they previously exhibited without Branded Program funds in the last three years.

  • Connecticut Supplier Expands Exports to China

    The Orange Cheese Company started working with Food Export- Northeast in 2014 resulting in their first ever export sale. Since then they have had continuous success growing in China. After a modest start they are now shipping multiple 40’ft containers every quarter and have experienced a rapid growth in their export sales to Asia’s largest market. Their efforts now result in close to a million dollars in annual sales to major markets throughout China including, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong.

    In October, US Durum, located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in the 16th Congressional District, attended various food shows, including the 2017 Summer Fancy Food Show and the Natural Products Buyers Mission at Natural Products Expo West 2017, where they interacted with buyers from Australia, Israel, and the United Kingdom. After continuing to grow these relationships throughout the next few months, the company has made a first-time sale of traditional couscous to the United Kingdom.

  • Connecticut Supplier Gains Exports to Canada

    Food Export’s Market Access Program (MAP) funded Branded Program helps approved U.S. Suppliers receive 50% cost reimbursement for a wide variety of international marketing activities. The program helps alleviate some of the heavy financial burden associated with gaining new export business by sharing the expense of international web site development, packaging and label modifications, advertising, and in-store promotions.

    Lobster Trap, Inc. was founded in 1969 as a neighborhood fish market on the Back River in Bourne, Massachusetts. Over time, the company has evolved to include a restaurant, catering, and a distribution company, which services restaurants and markets worldwide. Lobster Trap actively uses the services and activities offered by Food Export-Northeast to promote their lobster to foreign buyers.

    Island Creek Oysters, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, is a leading producer of farmed oysters. The company sells over 200,000 oysters a week. From the Atlantic Coast to the Pacific Coast, as far north as Canada, and as far south as the Caribbean, Island Creek Oysters can be found on menus. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, they will also be appearing on European menus once again.

    In October 2016, Wheaton Grain Incorporated from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin attended Food Export’s Value-Added Feed Ingredients Buyers Mission at the 2016 World Dairy Expo. There they met with buyers from China, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates and introduced them to their animal feed and food ingredients.

  • New Exports to the UK for Vermont Supplier

    “Bee’s Wrap was founded in 2012 by Vermonter Sarah Kaeck, a mother of three who has been, by turns, an avid gardener, milker of goats, keeper of chickens, and seamstress. Bee’s Wrap started with a question facing many families and home cooks: How could we eliminate plastics in our kitchen in favor of a healthier, more sustainable way to store our food?” What she discovered is a lost tradition made new again. By infusing organic cotton with beeswax, organic jojoba oil, and tree resin, she created a washable, reusable, and compostable alternative to plastic wrap.
