COVID-19: How Food Export-Midwest & Food Export-Northeast are Responding

As businesses and communities across our regions take steps to slow and contain the Coronavirus (COVID-19), I wanted to update you on how we are handling the situation here at Food Export–Midwest and Food Export–Northeast.

As you know, many of our market development activities are tied to industry events that are organized by others.  As a general rule, we are following their lead as to whether we continue with activities tied to their events. That said, at this time we have canceled all of our event-based market development activities through May 31, 2020.

Our staff are working from home, and continue to review Branded Program applications and claims, as well as support our other services.  We are still able to handle calls and other questions, but request your understanding if technology or other limitations cause delays.  For those of you expecting a Branded Program reimbursement, we are finding payment by ACH can be expedient, so please be in touch with your Liaison or Branded Program contacts for further info.

Given the current situation, I know that exporting may compete with other priorities for many of you. Nevertheless, I wanted to remind you of the export education and market development services we offer that are not tied to industry events and do not involve travel.  In export education, we offer a number of complimentary online learning opportunities, including our newly updated Export Essentials Online and our upcoming and recorded webinars

Other services related to market development that do not involve travel include:

We thank you for your support and understanding during this unprecedented time. While export development remains our mission, the health and safety of our entire community takes precedence at a time like this.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Sincerely,

Tim Hamilton,
Executive Director
