Kansas BBQ Sauce Company Makes First Export Sale to Canada

In September 2018, Pyramid Foods, located in Shawnee, Kansas in the 3rd Congressional District, attended Food Export – Northeast’s Focused Trade Mission to Toronto where they visited retail stores and met with distributors and brokers from Canada.

As a result, the company has already made an initial sale of Pitmaster LT’s BBQ Sauces worth $1,028.00, with additional multiple Pallet orders in the coming months. In addition, another Independent Retailer has committed to purchasing Pallet’s of Pitmaster LT’s BBQ Product in January - February 2019. Pyramid Foods has entered into a Broker Agreement with a Canadian Broker who will be promoting its’ products throughout Canada and is working diligently to do so!

To prepare himself for export opportunities, Luther Took, company CEO participated in 10 free Food Export webinars throughout 2018.

According to Tooks, “I participated in the Toronto Focused Trade Mission a couple of weeks ago and was very pleased with how it was organized, conducted and the quality of the Buyers/Brokers/Distributors/Consultants that I met with!  Kathy Boyce, Food Export’s Canadian In-Market Representative, did an outstanding job of matching our company with the right people to realistically allow us to market our products in Canada.”

Pyramid Foods is a producer of Pitmaster LT’s BBQ sauces and rubs and Pacific Island soy sauce in the retail and foodservice market segments.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy.
