Existing and New Sales Contacts, Grows Gehl Foods Export Sales

In 2019, Gehl Foods, located in Germantown, Wisconsin, in the 5th Congressional District, utilized Food Export – Midwest’s Branded Program to meet with buyers in Germany and United Arab Emirates.

As a result of these international marketing efforts in Germany, Gehl Foods connected with 11 existing customers and developed 160 quality sales leads. Gehl Foods captured $12 million in sales on a rolling 12-month basis with existing customers and anticipate $12 million in potential sales from sales leads as a result. The $12 million in potential sales breaks down to $75,000 per buyer and only costs Gehl Foods $115 per buyer through the use of the Branded Program. Additionally, during the meetings with existing customers, product portfolios were expanded.

At Gulfood in Dubai, Gehl Foods acquired two new customers and developed 160 sales leads. Market potential was accessed to understand what products would best serve the regions consumers.

According to Laura Gilman, International Account Manager at Gehl Foods, “The Food Export Branded Program offers an unmatched potential to garner sales leads at a minimal cost to Gehl Foods. There is no other program like the Branded Program to grow export sales exponentially. Food Export’s support has allowed us to continue to grow our international export sales.”

Gehl Foods is a producer of cheese sauces, puddings, creamers, and dairy-based beverages for retail, foodservice, and private label channels.

Food Export uses funding from the Market Access Program (MAP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
