ATP Funding Helps New York Company Export to China

Alexander Minn Wine Group is a Brooklyn, New York based export management company promoting American Wines primarily in China and the Asian markets. The company recently was able to return to Food Export – Northeast’s Branded Program with the assistance of new Agricultural Trade Promotion (ATP) funding.

Alex Chen, Managing Director, mentioned that, “The company has been busy in the fact they have been building a foundation in China promoting American wines, particularly last year to maintain market share.” He explained of the challenges they face in the Chinese market, “There is a lack of education to Chinese consumers. Having the capacity to return with ATP funds has aided in our success with promotional efforts and has helped us get back to 2017 levels in exports.”

As a result of the cost share assistance provided by Food Export’s ATP funded Branded Program, the company used allocated funds to promote their wines through social media and print advertisements. A major customer learned of them through the advertising, and ultimately the company met them at the FHC Pro Wine Show in China to discuss an order. As a result, Alexander Minn Wine Group was able to secure an order for America, “29” Brand Red/White/Rosea wines at 5 containers, a sale of approximately $350,000 with plans for 2-3 containers in follow-up orders. Alex Chen also mentioned that sales peak around holiday times. “The ATP funds helped us greatly as a result, and we are well positioned in boosting our market share in 2020.”

Alexander Wine Co. is a full-service wine company focused exclusively on introducing great value and premium value American wines into China. The company is proud to exclusively represent the largest selection of American wines from the major wine producing regions of America, including bold and powerful Cabernet Sauvignon and exotic Zinfandels from California, elegant Pinot Noir from Oregon, Bordeaux style reds from Washington State and classic Rieslings from the Finger Lakes of New York.

Food Export uses funding from the Agricultural Trade Promotion funding program (ATP) to help America’s small businesses increase their exports of food and agricultural products. As these exports increase, these small businesses are creating jobs and improving the strength and stability of our agricultural economy. Food Export-Midwest and Food Export-Northeast are non-profit organizations that work in collaboration with their member state departments of agriculture and the USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service. They offer a wide range of programs and services that help boost America’s agricultural exports.
