In 2015, U.S. agricultural exports to Canada accounted for over 15.7% of total U.S. food and agricultural product exports of US$133 billion. Canada remains the top market for U.S. exports of consumer-oriented products. U.S. exports of these products reached a US$16.7 billion in 2015.

Retail sales in the packaged food market reached over US$42.6 billion in 2015. That ranks Canada the 11th largest foreign market in the world. That also represented a growth rate of nearly 10% or over US$3.8 billion from 2011. Forecasting growth in this category is anticipated to reach over US$46.6 billion by 2020. This is an increase of nearly US$3 billion, and a period growth of nearly 7% from 2016.
