Seoul Food & Hotel 2018 will return to Kintex, Seoul and already looks set to expand on its record breaking year in 2017. Seoul Food & Hotel provides participating companies with an opportunity to meet with key importers, distributors and industry buyers from retail, catering and hospitality trade across the of Korea. As a nation of ever-evolving tastes and with a variety of developing food trends, Korea is one of Asia's most important nations for launching new and innovative products. 

Korea is the fifth largest export market for American agriculture. Imports of American food and agricultural products into Korea in 2016 were US$6.2 billion. Exports of consumer-oriented American products into Korea amounted to US$3.4 billion in 2016, the 2nd highest total on record and one which reflects Korean consumers’ increased demand for better value, quality and diversified taste. That amount reflected 55% of the agricultural and related products total. 

As a result, the United States should remain the leading agricultural exporter to Korea with over 21% market share. The Korea-United States Free Trade Agreement, (KORUS), implemented in March 2012, coupled with an anticipated recovery trend of the Korean economy is expected to generate greater opportunities for American products in the Korean market in the coming year.

Korea is also a top market for U.S. processed food exports, which totaled nearly US$1.8 billion in 2016. Korea is the 4th largest market for U.S. processed foods.

  • Face-to-Face Meetings. Pre-arranged meetings with qualified buyers will be arranged according to your profile and products.
  • Market Briefing. Pre-show intelligence from Food Export’s In-Market Representatives, covering regulations, trends, key players and more.
  • Retail Tour. Participants will be taken to tour a number of the leading supermarkets throughout metropolitan Seoul in order to understand the dynamic retail environment in the Korean market.
  • Invitations. Stand out before the show even starts - qualified buyers will receive invitations including your profile, contact info, product details and booth number.
  • On-site Assistance. In-Market Representatives offer ongoing support during the show and answer any questions.
  • Post-Show Lead Analysis. The In-Market Representative will regularly sit down with participants to review and qualify leads, helping execute follow up much more efficiently and effectively.

Increasing Export Sales from Wisconsin to Korea
Cranberry Growers Cooperative of Wausau, Wisconsin attended the Seoul Food & Hotel Show Korea in May of 2015 and utilized Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™ services. These services included introductions to qualified buyers, targeted invitations to buyers, a market briefing by local USDA, Foreign Agricultural Service staff, a local retail tour, pre-event custom product research, on-site show assistance from Food Export’s In-Market Representative and post-show top lead identification. Mike Stone, from the cooperative, says that “Food Export’s IMR was exceptionally prepared to help us expand in the Korean market.  They provided accurate market intel and introduced us to important buyers.”

The grower members of the Cranberry Growers Cooperative are passionate about growing cranberries. Almost without exception the growing operations that make up the cooperative are family-owned and operated. Family farms that have been passed on from generation to generation, many over 100 years old. Providing high quality, moist dried cranberries at competitive prices is part of the cooperatives promise. Bulk, consumer, private label, and custom packaging are offered. Through their participation in Food Export’s Food Show PLUS!™, these cranberry farmers are able to sell directly to Korean buyers.
