Meeting Foreign Buyers

Jeff Albanese

Jeff Albanese is an International Trade Specialist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).  Mr. Albanese overseas the Latin America portfolio for the Export Credit Guarantee Program (GSM-102) and Facility Guarantee Program (FGP) in the Credit Programs Division.  The GSM-102 program provides credit guarantees to encourage financing of commercial exports of U.S. agricultural products.  The FGP provides credit guarantees for infrastructure improvements in countries where demand for U.S. agricultural products may be limited by lack of adequate facilities.  Mr. Albanese joined FAS in 2010.  He is a former career Foreign Service Officer with assignments in Afghanistan, Philippines, and Switzerland.

Ursula Wegrzynowicz

Ursula re-joined EXIM Bank in 2020 and is currently serving as the Deputy Managing Director for the Central Region, supporting the exporting community by providing trade finance counseling related to the Bank’s products. Previously, Ursula founded a trade finance brokerage, Emelev, LLC with the goal of assisting US exporters reach their export potential. Emelev, which received the 2019 New Broker of the Year award, assisted companies navigate a variety of trade finance tools and best practices to manage international sales risk, finance exports and increase global competitiveness.

 

Ursula spent time as the Business Development Manager for LR International, an “E Star” award-winning, family-owned global logistics firm based in Chicago. At LR International, she worked primarily with manufacturers and distributors in the Midwest, helping them understand exporting and importing logistics – from compliance to efficient movement of cargo to payment.

 

Ursula’s experience also includes working with importer and exporter clients at JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo international divisions, placing trade credit insurance policies for the SME sector as Principal of a niche specialty broker, and increasing export finance awareness through an economic development initiative as Director of Export Finance at Illinois Global Partnership.

 

A trusted advisor and international trade expert, Ursula has dedicated her career to guiding small and medium- sized manufacturers on export strategy, trade finance, compliance and logistics. With more than 20 years of experience in the private sector, government and non-profit organizations, she partners with companies to develop successful export strategies, leveraging the many tools and resources available to increase sales, protect payments and win new customers.

 

Ursula is a member of the Board of Directors of the International Trade Association of Greater Chicago (ITAGC). She also joined Women Entrepreneurs Grow Global, a non-profit dedicated to nurturing women business owners and entrepreneurs, and serves as a Specialist on trade finance. As an “Export Coach” to SMEs enrolled in “ExporTech”, Ursula has mentored companies working on export expansion plans. Ursula is also an active speaker on the topics of export trade credit insurance and international trade finance. She received her B.A. in Political Science from Loyola University Chicago and her M.A. in International Affairs with a concentration in International Economic Policy from American University. She lives in Park Ridge, IL with her husband, three daughters, Mom, and a fluffy bichon poodle mix.
