Responsibilities

Assists Food Export – Northeast staff with recruiting for, implementing and tracking generic program activities (including buyers missions to U.S., trade missions, trade shows abroad, and market research).  More specifically the position involves:

  • Tracking company inquiries, participation, and evaluations working in our database.  Information entered will also be used to design queries to market programs and services to appropriate groups.
  • Researching company information including fax, mailing and email addresses, in order to increase the total population of companies that Food Export – Northeast is able to outreach.
  • Contacting companies via phone to encourage participation in Food Export – Northeast Programs and/or follow-up for proper registration forms.
  • Assists Food Export-Northeast staff with writing success stories about small and medium size food and agricultural exporters.
    • Works with staff to identify potential success story candidates.
    • Follows procedures to obtain and document data and facts related to the company and story
    • Communicates with the company to develop the story
    • Creates a draft story for review and completes edits as requested
    • Assists in tracking all aspects of the process
  • Preparing materials for foreign buyers’ and U.S. exporters who participate in Food Export – Northeast activities.
  • Assisting with answering queries on Food Export – Northeast programs and services.
  • Contributing with the administrative tasks of keeping program files up to date as well as providing clerical support to the program team.
  • Undertaking special projects and other tasks as directed by Food Export – Northeast staff.

Position Qualifications

  • Begin the internship while matriculating toward an undergraduate or graduate college degree at least six-months prior to graduation, and may continue to be employed as an intern for up to one year after graduation.
  • Strong PC skills, specifically Microsoft Office
  • Able to deal effectively with people by telephone or in-person
  • Interest in International Business

Position Details

  • Pay:  $13/hour
  • Eligibility of Benefits:  This position is not eligible for benefits.
  • Pay schedule:  Bimonthly, on the 5th and 20th of the month.
  • Termination Date:  90 day renewable term not to exceed December 31, 2017
  • Maximum number of hours to be worked weekly: 28 hours
  • A bi-weekly original activity/progress report shall be submitted to the Generic Program Manager (template to be provided).
