    Food Export USA – Northeast is a non-profit organization that assists small and mid-sized U.S. food companies looking to start or expand export sales. We aim to maximize their success through programs and services in education, market entry, and market promotion.  We partner with the United States Department of Agriculture and provide funding to U.S. companies using foods grown by American farmers.

     

    Position Overview:


    Food Export USA is seeking a team-oriented, organized, and customer-focused Associate who is mission-driven and has a passion for creating jobs, supporting farmers, and helping small businesses be successful.  The Associate must thrive in team-oriented, collaborative culture, learn quickly, and communicate well.

    The Associate will support a diverse array of activities, ranging from program support, activity planning, and document management. This position will report to the program manager and will work collaboratively with all departments within the organization.

     

    Responsibilities:


    Program Support

    • Learn and implement the rules and regulations of the Market Access Program so participants utilize the funds correctly to ensure compliance while providing an excellent customer service experience.
    • Recruit participants to engage with the large of variety of programs and services that Food Export NE offers.
    • Maintain accurate files on a consistent basis for audit and compliance needs.
    • Process applications and funding requests, and provide necessary reporting on a timely basis
    • Work collaboratively with other areas within the organization to maintain a team atmosphere.
    • Maintain internal management, data and reporting systems.

    Document Management

    • Food Export USA receives government funding to provide activities and services to participants. Therefore, managing documentation on claims, activities and use of funding is integral. Applicant must be very detail-oriented and organized to maintain documentation while providing excellent service.
    • Collaboratively and actively engage in safeguarding documentation in an organized manner so it is available as needed by government and auditing parties.
    • Review and approve documentation on an on-going basis to make sure all items meet regulations.
    • Assist with claim review and facilitating documentations needed to pay participants reimbursements when appropriate.
    • Perform data entry, including inputting monetary figures into Food Export USA systems as needed.
    • Support all areas as needed on providing reports on programs and activities.

    Requirements:


    Education:

    • Four-year college degree in a related field. Work Experience (preferred)

    Work Experience:

    • 2+ years of work experience in a related field, such as federal grant administration, banking/finance, claims processing, international marketing, customer relationship management, food/agriculture, or international trade.  

    Core Competencies:

    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, customer service oriented, proficient with MS Office, strong attention to detail and accuracy, time management skills, ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently, strong ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple priorities simultaneously. General knowledge and understanding of international marketing, self-motivated, and effective presentation skills.  Ability to communicate and build relationships with people from a variety of backgrounds and responsibility levels.  Familiarity with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Market Access Program or other reimbursement grants is a plus.

     Physical Demands/Work Environment:

    • Work is performed in a standard office environment. This position requires light duty physical work, conducting general office duties, participation in trade shows, and market promotions, Requirements include carrying multiple files and printed materials.  
    • Occasional domestic travel required (up to two weeks per year)
